While halieusmedia was shopping, President of the United States Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin sat down in Helsinki, Finland for a diplomacy meeting on Monday. Their goal was to defuse tensions between the US and Russia in an attempt to put the brakes on mounting tensions and thwart furthering hostility. For this act of responsibility, US President Trump is criticized heavily in the press and by many liberal voices.
Let us lump socialist leaning and communist leaning thinkers into the same group for simplicity’s sake, keeping in mind they are degrees on a continuum of larger government management of the socio-political lives of citizens. Let us also lump conservatives and libertarians into another group. Again these two are degrees on the continum of less government and more personal responsibility of the citizenry.
What would the Left have the two Presidents do instead?
The left would have the Presidents warily engaged in continuous low-level tensions to determine which flavor or degree on the socialist-comunist continuum serves government better. The left wants the freedom to practice whatever lifestyle choices they deem most desirable and they want government to mandate those freedoms and manage them; all those little niche groups get their agendas validated without regard to moral or ethical arguments until those arguments impose on their government managed freedoms. In this case they would extend that outside our borders via foreign policy, “Mr. Putin, if you dare touch a gay man wearing a vulgar costume depicting female genitalia we will nuke you.” or something like that.
What would the Right have the two Presidents do?
The right would have us armed to the teeth at the ready to defend any and all who threaten our so-called allies, including those allies who abuse that relationship by skirting treaties and oppressing citizens in their own countries.
What did these two Presidents do?
The United States President, Donald Trump and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin sat down to discuss touchy subjects of interest to both countries on behalf of their citizen’s interests. It is in their job description. Also in their job description; try to come to an understanding of each other’s concerns and policies regarding said concerns. Reach a cooperative solution or plan going forward to address said concerns where in the end both sides get their concerns addressed and solved.
Is this not what we expect of leadership? Why then do we still have partisan grumbling and whining?
Bbbut Daaaaaad, I didn’t get what I waaaaant!
